Biomedical Enterprise Program

Single-Degree Post-MBA Master’s in
Health Sciences and Technology

The Biomedical Enterprise Program (BEP) now offers a single-degree post-MBA in Health Sciences and Technology designed specifically for business leaders who already have training and experience in management but need a comparable level of biomedical expertise to take their careers to the next level. Following a year of full-time intensive coursework in clinical medicine, biomedical science and integrated biomedical business training, students are equipped with the intellectual foundation they need to lead future innovations in the biomedical industry. They leave the program with an understanding of the scientific, regulatory, clinical, management, and product development requirements involved in forming biomedical enterprises.

The Candidate

Applicants are individuals who have a passion for creating and leading companies that will make improvements in healthcare. They should have an MBA or other graduate degree in management and either a bachelor’s degree in some area of science, engineering, or quantitative analysis, or substantial background in one of these areas.

The Curriculum

BEP students in the single-degree post-MBA program matriculate in the fall and begin an intensive program of study at Harvard Medical School and MIT. Within this rich multiprofessional community, students explore the fundamentals of biomedicine, clinical science, and innovation in the biomedical industry. Students take biomedical science and engineering subjects alongside HST’s MD and PhD students. They also participate in BEP’s unique integrative courses designed to address the specific needs of starting, growing and managing a biomedical enterprise. Included in the curriculum is a hands-on hospital-based clinical experience. With the guidance of scientists, physicians, business and technology leaders, students are introduced to cutting-edge science, technology and medicine that go beyond the classroom. As the last phase of their year-long experiences, students will complete an original master's thesis under faculty supervision.
