BEP is designed to educate entrepreneurial leaders to identify and manage scientific and clinical research and financial opportunities that build successful innovative biomedical businesses. Its unique curriculumintegrating business and biomedi cal traininghelps students understand the development of new biomedical technologiesfrom bench, through commercialization, to bedside.
HST's biomedical science and technology curriculum grounds students in medical science and extends their understanding of physiology (molecular, cellular, systems) and pathophysiology. MIT Sloan's wide-ranging curriculum provides students with essen tial financial and management tools.
BEP's students take pre-clinical and engineering subjects alongside HST's MD and PhD students, and MIT Sloan business subjects with MBA and technology management students. Electives in technology, biology, or business complete the experience.
BEP is right for those who want answers to the following:
- When is the right time to do a clinical trial?
- What does it take to get a biomedical enterprise up and running? and Why do some succeed and others fail?
- How can I transform a great scientific breakthrough into a sustainable business?
- Where is the reality within a scientific controversy and does that reality provide a commercial opportunity?
- What are the major challenges involved in bringing a new drug to market?
- How do biomedical businesses fit into the big economic picture?
- What recent technologies hold the most promise for advances in medicine?
- How are future medical technologies shaping today's biomedical businesses?
Students both sharpen their business management skills and extend their understanding of physiology and pathophysiology.
